Vacation Etc.

I’ve been putting this blog off for a while.  I just didn’t know how to start it and to tell you the truth, I still don’t know if this is it.

My sister Bethany came to Lesotho to visit at the beginning of December.  The plan was quite busy and in the end we drove 4,650 km (2,890 miles) in 12 days, and across 3 countries.  Melinda and I started at Kelly’s house the day before Bethany’s arrival.

She’s a lot nicer than this photo depicts.

Latté at the Bloemfontein airport.  When in doubt, pinky out ; )

We took a taxi from Maseru to Bloemfontein and met Bethany and our rental car, a gutless Chevy Spark, at the airport.  We drove to Bridget and Tammen’s house in Semonkong the first day.

Maletsunyane Falls is the tallest waterfall in Southern Africa.  The photo was taken at exactly the wrong time of day but oh well.

We spent the second night at the Semonkong backpackers lodge.  The lodge was the nicest place I’ve stayed in in Lesotho although that’s not saying much.

Yup, real car dealership.

With a car full of three women, we stopped at every craft shop in Lesotho.  Here a mme spins yarn on a bicycle wheel.

From Semonkong we headed to Tsehlenyane park to do some sight seeing and swimming.

This last photo pretty much sums up the entire vacation, lots of driving.

Botswanna coming up next right HERE...

Peace,

- Joel
